Middleground @ 374 Eland

Middleground @ 374 Eland description:
A relaxed holiday home, with beautiful wood finishes and a light airy ambience.

This spacious home is designed for indoor/outdoor living.

The thatch roof keeps it cool in summer, and the closed combustion fire place keeps it warm in winter.

There are two bedrooms – the master upstairs with en-suite bidet, and the guest room downstairs -- as well as a sleeping loft.

All have wonderful views of the sea and the Table Mountain National Park - Cape Point section.

Both bedrooms have external access to decks, and blinds for the summer afternoon sun.

The bathroom has a full bath and shower and a separate toilet (composting to reduce water demand and waste disposal issues).

The house is designed and built to have as small an environmental impact and consume as few resources as possible.

The garden is almost entirely indigenous, and looks after itself.

Hot water is provided by a solar heater with electric back up.

All the grey water is directed to maintain trees in the garden.

There are two garden plots in front and to the south of the house which maintain the superb views.

The floors and kitchen are appointed with sustainably harvested and recycled timber throughout, and doors and windows are reclaimed Burmese teak.

There is a fully functional kitchen, including a gas hob, large fridge/freezer, and small oven plus microwave.

An outside kettle braai (barbecue) is available on the brick patio.

Maid service (and laundry) twice a week included if desired.

The beach can be reached via a path adjacent to the National Park boundary, while several walking trails up the mountain behind the village are easily accessible.
